GreenMech Disc Blades

The revolutionary and patented Disc Blade system, designed and manufactured by GreenMech, is a standard feature on GreenMech machines. It provides a more efficient and cost effective alternative to conventional cutting devices, offering:

  • Reduction in costly down time
  • Less susceptible to damage
  • Reduced noise levels

See how it works

Although the discs mounted on the flywheel have a fully sharpened circumference, only about a 1/3 of the cutting edge on each disc is in use at any one time. When this edge becomes worn, the blades is rotated to provide a new sharp edge, without removing the blade, meaning less down time and a longer period between sharpenings, compared to flat blade or flail systems.

See how simple

When the in-use section of a Disc Blade chipping edge loses sharpness, the retaining nut on the flywheel is slackened and the blade turned 120 degrees to the next sharp section. Re-tighten to the correct torque setting and the machine is then ready to give you another 50-100 hours of cutting before the Disc Blade is rotated again or eventually taken off for complete re-sharpening.

See how it saves

GreenMech Disc Blades can give you up to 6 times more blade life. One operator recorded his Disc Blade performance to show 150 – 170 hours work between sharpenings and a life expectancy of the blade in excess of 1200 hours. By comparison conventional blades needed sharpening every 23 – 50 hours and replacement every 200 hours, if not damaged earlier. This equated to the Disc Blade system saving him over £1000 per year.
