Company History

In 1963 Tony Turner developed the worlds first “Flail Hedge and Verge Mower” named the “HYDRAMOWER”, it became the standard for cutting roadside verges by Public Authorities throughout the UK and by farmers for their hedges.

In 1980, the Turner Company recognised the need for woodchippers and introduced an imported range of machines marketed under the “Turner” name. The original Company was sold to a PLC that then purchased its main competitor, Bomford and Evershed, the two companies merged and became Bomford Turner, which is now owned by the Alamo Group.

Following the merger, Turner Developments Ltd, the family company, retained ownership of the original 6-acre flail mower factory site and created the “Mill Industrial Park” with 20 industrial Units. Some of these units are occupied by companies selected to do sub-contract work for GreenMech such as machining, fabricating and painting.

GreenMech Ltd was formed in 1993 specifically to develop, manufacture and market a range of British built woodchippers and green waste shredders. Its staff has many years’ experience in design, manufacture, marketing and after sales support.
